From yesterday, in Croatia campsites can reopen to the public. Indeed, on May 11th the “third phase” officially began, with the need to follow several recommendations issued by the Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ), valid both for accommodations facilities and for beaches.
The first rule is that of social distancing, which must be 1.5 meters in the entire area, from the reception to the sunbeds on the beaches, from the restaurants to the queues for bars, shops and kiosks. In each closed structure it is then necessary to limit attendance according to the size of the room.
Disinfectant for everyone
Alcohol-based disinfectant (with a concentration of at least 70%) must be available at the entrance of each individual common area and for employees, while notices and information on hygiene procedures, as well as being provided at check-in, they must always be clearly visible and complete with telephone numbers and contacts in case of need. The use of surgical masks or systems that allow to protect the mouth and nose is recommended every time you enter a closed place.
Personal protective equipment, disposable towels and paper napkins must be made available to all employees. For mobile homes, apartments and similar units, it is recommend cleaning only when guests leave. For the cleaning of the areas and for the sanitation of those that have seen the suspected presence of Covid-19 patients, special documents that illustrate the procedures to be followed have been prepared in PDF format.
Check-in in 15 minutes
For the guests reception phase, in addition to guaranteeing social distancing, the procedure is requested to be contained within 15 minutes. If this is not possible, it is necessary to use physical plexiglass separators. The reception staff must be able to give correct information on everything related to preventing the spread of the virus. In case of need, guests should be provided with thermometers and protective masks and gloves (on request).
In general, it is suggested where possible to use technological tools, both for the booking and for the registration processes. It is preferable to use contactless payment systems and, if possible, to provide mechanized currency exchange systems. It is recommended that the guests announce their check-out in advance, in order to speed up the process of check-out.
Clean bathrooms every two hours
Talking about sanitary blocks, disinfection must be done at least every two hours, increasing the frequency if necessary, also increasing the number of employees. Depending on the size, access restrictions can be adopted. If available, better encourage the use of family or private bathrooms.
In catering facilities, the tables have to be kept empty until the arrival of the guests. It is recommended to display the menus at the entrance, avoiding the use of classic objects in favor of an oral presentation of the menu. Organized families and groups can sit at the same table, but the distance of 1.5 meters between one table and another must be respected. It is recommended, only where technically possible, to ensure that food and drinks are served in such a way that guests cannot take food on their own, unless it is divided in single portions. After each departure of a guest or group of guests, it is mandatory to disinfect any menus used (which must be plasticized) and the “accessories” on the table (containers for salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, sugar and so on).
Self-service forbidden in the bar
In the bar is allowed to purchase food and drinks for take-away, but in the stay for consumption at the counter, the correct distance between guests must be maintained. It is forbidden to provide snacks or self-service food. Drive-in and delivery to housing units are permitted, but without table service. At the entrance of all areas where food and drinks are served, disinfectant dispensers must be installed, or each guest must be offered a hand sanitizer.
In the long list of recommendations, the Croatian Institute of Public Health then addresses the theme of beaches, swimming pools (the common theme is the 1.5 meters of distancing), saunas, commercial spaces and entertainment. Nothing too expensive is expected, but there is always a great emphasis on disinfection.
