The first “International Tourism Forum” will take place in Baveno, on Lake Maggiore, on November 24 and 25, organized by the Italian Ministry of Tourism and strongly supported by Minister Daniela Santanchè. It will be an important occasion for a dialogue between the government, entrepreneurs, and associations in the tourism sector, as well as foreign institutional representatives, on the potential and cross-cutting nature of the Italian tourism sector, which directly and indirectly represents 13% of the national GDP.
For Minister Santanché, the discussion will revolve around three key words: “Vision, Action, Future“. According to the minister, “the event is the ideal opportunity to initiate a shared and participatory assessment of the tourist impact of each activity on the economy, culture, and society, so that, as ‘Sistema Italia,’ we reflect on the centrality of an industry made up of families, Italian businesses, and companies that represent our beating heart, the soul of Italy, the passion, pride, and authenticity of that envied, appreciated, and sought-after Italian style around the world.”
On the opening day, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will also be present to discuss the centrality of tourism on the government’s agenda, while Minister Daniela Santanchè will outline the current state of the sector and the ministry’s programmatic activities.
Over the two days, various government ministers will take the stage, accompanied by the participation of many national and international representatives from the entrepreneurial, associative, and cultural worlds, to discuss tourism in all its facets. The common goal is to plan the future of the sector, preparing to face challenges and seize upcoming opportunities.
Among the ministers who have already confirmed their presence are Minister of Agriculture and Food SovereigntyFrancesco Lollobrigida, who will speak about gastronomic tourism, increasingly central in travelers’ choices; Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, who will address the economic prospects of the sector; Minister of Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, who will discuss sports tourism as an opportunity for destigmatizing tourist flows; Minister of Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli on the themes of accessibility, inclusivity, and sustainability.
The program also includes a reflection led by Minister Santanchè on tourism as a factor for peace, to explore how tourism, as a “humanitarian and social” phenomenon, can help stimulate mutual understanding and tolerance among peoples.
