In 2021, two leading camping platforms in Europe joined forces to create a new booking system. Through participation, campsites can reach millions of visitors each year with just one contract. Since its launch, ACSI camping.info Booking has demonstrated strong growth. The figures for this booking season are once again impressive.
Since 1965, camping specialist ACSI has been providing campers with up-to-date, objective and reliable information. Each year, 400 inspectors visit nearly 10,000 campsites to achieve this. Campsites approved by ACSI are featured in the iconic green camping guide, on Eurocampings.eu, and in the ACSI Campsites Europe app. Originating from the Netherlands, ACSI has grown to become one of the market leaders in Europe, reaching millions of campers of all ages and interests across its titles and products.
Camping.info is one of the largest information and booking platforms in the German-speaking region. The websites and apps of this German company generate over one hundred million pageviews annually. By joining forces, ACSI and camping.info make it easier for campsites to become bookable for a large group of campers, with minimal effort.
Bookings from all over Europe
ACSI camping.info Booking attracts an international audience, with particularly strong representation from Germany and the Netherlands. Over the course of 2024, most bookings came from Germany (32%), followed by the Netherlands (27%), the United Kingdom (12%), France (6%) and Belgium (5%). The average booking amounts vary significantly. Germans spend an average of €178 per booking, Dutch customers €199, the British €77, the French €121 and Belgians 185.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of bookings up to mid-June 2025 increased by no less than 128%. Revenue rose by 194%. As of mid-March, those figures were still at 75% and 73%, respectively.
More participating campsites, broader coverage
This strong growth is due to a number of factors. Firstly, the number of bookable campsites grew by 24% from March 2024 to March 2025. This means greater choice for campers. There is also a wider geographic spread of campsites across different European regions, and a broader range of campsite types to choose from.
This expanded range also includes rental accommodation. While ACSI camping.info Booking mainly focuses on touring pitches, the proportion of rentals is becoming increasingly balanced. The number of bookings for rental units has increased by 146%.
CampingCard ACSI also plays a role. Each year, hundreds of thousands of campers travel in the low season using this popular discount scheme. This segment is also seeing more reservations. The number of CampingCard ACSI bookings for touring pitches has risen by 173%. For comparison, the number of non-CampingCard ACSI bookings for touring pitches increased by 95%.
Developments within the booking system also contribute. New filtering options have been added to help users find their ideal campsite more quickly. In the coming period, ACSI camping.info Booking will continue to focus on sustainable growth, improving the user experience, and expanding the range of campsites. Expectations are that the platform will continue to grow steadily.
France leads the way
Most bookings for the current season are for campsites in France. With a 42% share, France is by far the most popular holiday destination. Italy (14%) and Germany (13%) follow at a considerable distance. Spain (8%), the Netherlands (7%) and Croatia (6%) round out the list.

Looking at revenue share, the differences are less pronounced. France – along with Germany – is often used as a transit destination, which leads to shorter stays and thus a lower share of total revenue. France still tops the list with a 31% share of total revenue, but Italy is close behind with 21%. Germany and Croatia follow with 11%, then Spain (8%) and the Netherlands (6%). The highest average booking amount is for Croatia (€368), followed by Italy (€230).

Focus on Italy
Italy holds a strong position on the booking platform. It ranks second for total number of bookings, share of total revenue, and average booking amount. German campers in particular are strongly represented. A striking 45% of bookings for Italian campsites come from Germany. The Netherlands follows with 18%, then Italy itself with 10%, and the United Kingdom, France and Switzerland each with 5%.

The popularity of the various provinces and regions depends on several factors: distance from the rest of Europe, name recognition, and of course size – meaning the number of campsites. In the ACSI camping.info Booking database, the province/region of Lago di Garda is listed separately, and is among the most popular. In general, regions in the north are more popular than those in the south – travel distance plays a key role. The coasts and cultural heritage also attract many bookings.
