Guest of Conversazioni @ Camping Business, special edition from SIA Hospitality Design 2023, this time is Alberto Granzotto, national president of FAITA-FederCamping. The president shared with us some reflections on the analysis of the 2023 Italian season, which confirms the positive trend of outdoor tourism, but with some differences between territorial areas and reference markets.

The North-East benefited from the return of foreign customers, exceeding 2019 levels. The North-West recorded a strong presence of Italian tourism. The Centre-South has given mixed signals, potentially due to economic difficulties linked to inflation. Sea and lake destinations have held up, with significant growth in mountain tourism. All this taking into account unusual weather conditions: with a spring characterized by negative phenomena and an exceptionally hot October.

On the topic of the activities carried out by FAITA, the president highlighted that the open-air tourism sector in Italy is experiencing accelerated changes thanks to technology and data analysis. For this reason, the creation of the Observatory by the federation is fundamental to understand the evolution and future prospects of the sector. In fact, data collection and analysis are crucial tools. They help tourism operators adapt to travelers’ changing needs and stay competitive. Open-air tourism is the second largest form of hospitality in Italy, underlining its importance in the country’s economy. To maintain the industry’s relevance, it is essential to continue investing and innovating. With the effective use of technology, data and collaboration, the future of open-air tourism in Italy appears promising.
