Cyber-attacks are quite frequent and affect agencies, banks, state bodies, ministries, private companies. In short, they affect all realities and, sometimes, it takes several weeks before all the information becomes available again. The Italian ENIT (National Tourism Agency) was also the victim of hackers, who launched the attack on the evening of February 8 starting at 21.00, with the consequent blackout of the servers which also blocked the institutional site.

Fortunately, the National Tourism Agency intervened promptly, and in three days the network and services were restored. The body, thanks also to the support of the National Cybersecurity Agency CSIRT Italy, was able to immediately stem all types of damage, securing data and archives.

The episode was reported to the Guarantor for the protection of personal data, and, in the meantime, a specialized IT task force was activated to repel the hacker attack and restore all the services provided by the network. As the body informs, a large part of the archive has been recovered and work is continuing with the company operating the systems for the full recovery of the data.
