The training of personnel working in open-air accommodation facilities throughout Europe is a fundamental issue. Finding specialized employees is increasingly difficult and when it comes to top management it is almost impossible. For this reason, the Master Degree On Sustainable Outdoor Hospitality Management, the only program specialized in sustainable hospitality for outdoor tourism, was launched with the support of three major European universities and important partners in the sector.
Thanks to this opportunity, combining theory and practice, future professionals in the sector will study 6 months in a country between Croatia, Spain and the Netherlands, and 6 months in a country of their choice. Responsible for this project is Josipa Bonifačić Cvelić – Phd, Assistant Professor at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management – who together with the Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas), the University of Girona in Spain and the University of Rijeka in Croatia has developed CampMaster, the only postgraduate course of its kind with a focus on the strategic management of campsites, designed to align the needs of the sector with the skills and qualifications acquired in study programs at the European.
Many important companies in the sector have become partners in the project, starting with LeadingCampings of Europe, the Associació de Càmpings de Girona (Spain) and the Croatian Camping Union. And now ADAC Camping and Carthago have also embraced this ambitious project. Last but not least, we at Camping Business also support and promote CampMaster, with the awareness that adequate training of highly specialized personnel ready to face new challenges, such as that of sustainability, is the only viable way to create the professionalism necessary to manage the open-air accommodation facilities of tomorrow.
