Record figures for PiNCAMP: online bookings from Germany exceed expectations

PiNCAMP is celebrating a successful start to the 2023 season. Online bookings increased by 133% over the previous year. This remarkable increase can be attributed to the continued growth of outdoor tourism in Germany, the increasing interest of Germans in online bookings and the increasing digitization of the sector.

An overview of bookings on PiNCAMP reveals which countries are most popular with German campers this summer: the majority of bookings go to Croatia, despite currency conversion and above-average price increases. The country benefits from the growing digitization of the sector and the presence of numerous high-quality facilities. Germany is in second place, while Italy, despite the searches surpassing German tourist destinations for the first time, occupies the third position. Italian campsites still have great potential to connect to the PiNCAMP booking system. France follows in fourth place.

Of all the major destinations, it is Northern European countries that experience the highest percentage growth in online bookings through PiNCAMP, with Sweden and Denmark standing out. German campers are increasingly directing their attention towards the north, also due to the changed climatic conditions.

The reasons for a success

The rapid increase in online bookings on PiNCAMP is due to several factors. These include the camping boom in Germany and the growing preference of German campers for online bookings. Germany has had a record number of new RV registrations for years, and the number of enthusiasts, including those who like to rent motorhomes, has reached 20 million. Around 40% of German campers consider online booking to be an important criterion when choosing a campsite.

Entrepreneurs in the sector have taken note of this trend and are increasingly directing sales through online bookings. PiNCAMP promotes digitization through its free webinar program “PiNCAMPUS”, which regularly provides insights into this topic and offers valuable tips to companies across Europe to push them towards the possibility of collecting online bookings.

Thanks to our online bookable campsites partners for their trust and thanks to the team for five years of hard work,” said a satisfied Uwe Frers, CEO of ADAC Camping. “Germany is the engine of the camping boom in Europe, and PiNCAMP is now the first choice for innovative entrepreneurs who want to part of this boom in a sustainable way.”
