Increasingly demanding travellers and facilities ever more focused on meeting their expectations: the Italian camping sector continues to invest in quality, innovation and services to deliver holiday experiences in line with new market demands. This commitment is recognised in the 2026 Excellence Certificates awarded by Campeggi.com, the Italian portal dedicated to campsites and holiday villages within the KoobCamp network, to establishments that have stood out for the quality of their experience and level of services.
Now in its eleventh edition, the Excellence Certificates reward thirteen categories, each with a Top 10 shortlist of finalists from which the winning structure is selected. In the 2026 edition, six regions can boast two awarded establishments: Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont, Sardinia, Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto, confirming the high-quality level achieved by the open-air tourism offer in these areas.
Alongside the Excellence Certificates, Camping.com also awards “mentions”, reserved for all structures included in the category Top 10. This recognition provides a snapshot of the overall quality of the regional tourism offer. Leading the ranking is Trentino-Alto Adige with as many as 30 mentions, followed by Veneto (15), Tuscany (13), Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont (11 each), Sardinia (10), Abruzzo (7), then Liguria and Marche (6). The Top 10 is completed by Friuli Venezia Giulia and Sicily, both with five mentions.
The awarded campsites: in Abruzzo, family holidays
Abruzzo is the region most oriented towards family holidays, with two awards: the Don Antonio Glamping Village wins the Family award thanks to its wide range of services dedicated to children, while the Pineto Beach Village & Camping in Pineto (Teramo) receives the Pet Friendly award for its extensive offer dedicated to four-legged friends, including welcome kits, Bau Shower, Bau Beach and exercise areas.
Emilia-Romagna also secures two awards. The Camping Village Tahiti in Comacchio (Ferrara) wins in the Sports category thanks to its facilities dedicated to physical activity, including a Technogym gym, sports fields and an Active Park. The Florenz Open Air Resort, also in Comacchio, receives the Accessibility award for having created a barrier-free environment, with services and spaces designed to ensure an inclusive holiday.
In Piedmont, the Camping Village Isolino in Verbania receives the Experience award, while Camping Italia Lido in Castelletto sopra Ticino (Novara) stands out in the Original Accommodation category thanks to its innovative glamping proposals.
Two awards also go to Sardinia: Villaggio Camping Capo Ferrato in Muravera wins the Restaurant award, while Camping Village Torre del Porticciolo in Alghero receives the Natural Paradise recognition.
Trentino-Alto Adige leads in wellness-focused offer
Trentino-Alto Adige confirms itself as a benchmark for outdoor tourism focused on comfort. Camping Olympia in Dobbiaco (Bolzano) wins the Wellness award thanks to its recently renovated spa featuring saunas, a Turkish bath, a relaxation area and heated pools. Camping Residence Sägemühle in Prato allo Stelvio (Bolzano) receives the Great Bathroom award for the quality and attention to detail of its sanitary facilities.
