According to figures released by the Flower Campings network, the 2026 season has begun positively, with turnover at the end of April up by 6% compared with the same time last year. Among the emerging trends, the chain – which includes 136 campsites across France – notes that regions located north of the Loire are performing particularly well.

Île-de-France has recorded growth of 44%, followed by Grand Est (+28%), Pays de la Loire (+20%) and Brittany (+11%). By contrast, Occitanie is currently experiencing a decline of 3%, as is the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region (-4%). Holidaymakers are now favouring milder temperatures, less crowded destinations and, more recently, closer-to-home locations, helping to reduce fuel costs for travel”, comments Flower Campings.

Another trend identified is the growing appeal of bare pitches and “real” camping, which have seen an 11% increase. Even more notably, pitches equipped with private sanitary facilities are proving particularly popular. Flower Campings’ Free Camp offer – a bare pitch with private kitchen and bathroom facilities – has risen sharply by 29%.

Finally, the chain notes that stays of four to five nights are becoming more common, while also generating higher value thanks to an increase in average spending.
