UrbanThink, a platform specializing in the development of digital solutions for ecological transition, is organizing an online webinar on Friday, March 21 at 11:00 AM, dedicated to water management in campsites. The event is organized in collaboration with O-Cell, which has developed an efficient device for monitoring energy consumption.

Water management has become a growing priority for campsites in France, driven by increasingly stringent environmental regulations and certifications. The Tertiary Decree, Camping Qualité, Ecolabel, Cléf Verte, and CSR push the tourism sector toward more responsible practices, making the monitoring of water and energy consumption an essential requirement and a regulatory obligation that can’t be overlooked.

But can this obligation turn into a competitive advantage for campsites? The webinar aims to provide an answer to this question. During the session, industry experts will offer insights and practical solutions to reflect on the issues at hand and discover concrete strategies to turn environmental challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation in hospitality.

Karine Farcot, Director of the Camping Qualité label, will explain the new environmental regulations and how consumption monitoring can facilitate the achievement and maintenance of environmental certifications. William Fénié, Director of Yelloh! Village Les Grands Pins campsite, will share his experience in implementing an effective energy monitoring system. Contributions will also come from Thomas Humeau of O-Cell and Gwenaëlle Carfantan, CEO of UrbanThink and moderator of the webinar.

There are four topics on the programme:

  • Real-time monitoring: a constraint or a strategic advantage?
  • Certifications and eco-labels: how to meet certification requirements?
  • Case Study – Camping Les Grands Pins: tangible results from water and energy management in a 5-star campsite
  • Smart sensors and connected solutions: simplify management and save time

Registration is free and open to campsite managers and sustainable tourism operators. Here’s the registration link.

About O-Cell

O-Cell has developed a water consumption monitoring device specifically designed for the campsite sector. With a simple and effective system, O-Cell’s device uses a network of connected sensors to track energy consumption in real time, allowing detailed monitoring through a web portal or dedicated app. Alerts are triggered immediately in case of faults or leaks.

Environmental standards and certifications

New French regulations and certifications, such as the Tertiary Decree, Camping Qualité, Ecolabel, Clé Verte, and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), aim to make the tourism sector more sustainable and responsible. Here’s what they involve:

  • Tertiary Decree – Requires tertiary buildings, including campsites, to progressively reduce energy consumption: -40% by 2030, -50% by 2040, and -60% by 2050 (compared to 2010 levels). This means adopting energy efficiency measures to reduce environmental impact.
  • Camping Qualité – A label that ensures high standards in campsites, evaluating hospitality, cleanliness, services, and environmental sustainability. It helps campsites stand out for quality and guest experience.
  • Ecolabel – A European certification awarded to establishments that reduce their environmental impact through efficient resource management, waste reduction, and the use of eco-friendly products.
  • Cléf Verte – An international label for campsites and accommodations that adopt sustainable practices such as energy saving, responsible water management, and raising customer awareness about environmental issues.
  • CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) – A voluntary approach encouraging tourism businesses to operate ethically and sustainably, respecting the environment, workers’ rights, and contributing to the development of local communities.
