Caravan and leisure vehicle enthusiasts flocked to the CMT (Caravan, Motor, Touristik) fair, held in Stuttgart from January 14 to 22, 2024, demonstrating a robust interest in the industry. Despite a slight dip in attendance compared to the 2023 fair, with 234,000 visitors this year versus 265,000 the previous year, the event maintained its status as the world’s largest consumer fair for tourism and leisure.

Roland Bleinroth, the Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart, expressed satisfaction with the turnout, citing the engagement of visitors in high-quality conversations that translated into numerous sales and bookings. The fair showcased 1,600 exhibitors and 1,300 vehicles, creating a vibrant atmosphere, despite challenges posed by weather conditions and a railway track closure.

A survey conducted during the event revealed a positive sentiment, with the fair receiving an impressive grade of 1.9. An overwhelming 96% of visitors expressed their intent to recommend the fair to friends and family. The diverse range of holiday options, coupled with a rich program featuring a holiday cinema, shows, and services, contributed to the event’s success.

Operators are satisfied

The caravanning industry exhibited a strong presence, with innovators showcasing vehicle innovations, accessories, and the latest technology. Bernd Wuschack, Managing Director at Carthago, noted an increase not only in quantity but also in the quality of conversations. Wolfgang Speck, CEO of Knaus Tabbert, expressed similar sentiments, emphasizing the fair’s importance as an indicator for the industry at the beginning of the year.

The fair also addressed specific interests, such as travel with dogs, with a themed day on January 17th. Janina Jörissen, Stand Manager at Dünen Camping Amrum, shared positive feedback, emphasizing the heightened interest from customers who travel with their canine companions.

CMT 2024 struck a balance between holiday inspiration and essential themes like international understanding and sustainability. Talks on sustainable winter tourism and awards for projects promoting international unity were featured. An information stand focused on eco-friendly caravan holidays.

Looking ahead, CMT 2025 is scheduled for January 18th to 26th in Stuttgart, promising a diverse and enriching experience for both leisure and industry attendees.
