Italy’s open-air tourism sector is strengthening its representation at the highest levels of the Confcommercio system. Confturismo’s National Executive Committee has elected Alberto Granzotto, President of FAITA Federcamping, as National Vice President of the Confederation of Tourism Enterprises, following a proposal by Confturismo President Manfred Pinzger.
Alongside Granzotto, two further Vice Presidents were appointed: Graziano Dominidiato, President of Confcommercio Valle d’Aosta, and Franco Gattinoni, President of FTO – the Federation of Organised Tourism. The appointments form part of the broader renewal of Confturismo’s leadership and mark a significant step in strengthening the organisation’s governance at a crucial moment for the future of Italy’s tourism industry.
Originally from the Veneto region, Alberto Granzotto holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. A chartered accountant and entrepreneur in the open-air hospitality sector, he currently leads FAITA Federcamping at a time of profound transformation for the industry. For many years, he has actively promoted innovation in ecological and digital transition processes, recognised as key drivers for business competitiveness and the sustainable development of tourism destinations.
With his election, Italy’s campsite and holiday village sector formally joins Confturismo’s strategic leadership, bringing with it an increasingly strong focus on sustainability, inclusion, accessibility and innovation.
Thanking President Pinzger for the confidence placed in him, Granzotto confirmed his full commitment to supporting the Confederation’s work, contributing the experience gained in a sector that generates around €8 billion in total turnover across direct, indirect and induced activities. As FAITA has repeatedly highlighted, open-air tourism has in many cases anticipated the objectives of the European 2030 Agenda, becoming a testing ground for advanced environmental and management best practices.
In addition to his association role, Granzotto also serves as Chairman of the Board of Villaggio Turistico Internazionale and Chief Executive Officer of Aurore Development, both operating within the open-air tourism segment, underlining a professional profile firmly rooted in hands-on business management.
Commenting on the new appointments, Confturismo President Manfred Pinzger underlined their strategic importance: “This election strengthens the association’s structure at a particularly decisive moment for the sector. The skills and experience that the new Vice Presidents will bring represent a fundamental added value for our commitment to protecting and supporting tourism businesses”.
During the same Executive Committee meeting, Confturismo officially introduced its new National Director, Carlo Squeri, who will lead the organisation’s operational activities at a time of profound change within the tourism market.
Founded in 2000 on the initiative of Confcommercio, Confturismo is today the main coordinating and representative body for Italy’s tourism industry. Its network brings together more than 220,000 businesses – including hotels, travel agencies, campsites, holiday villages, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, seaside resorts and entertainment venues – employing over one million people in total. Member organisations include ASSONAT, FAITA Federcamping, Federalberghi, FTO, FIAVET and FIPE, reflecting the Confederation’s broad reach across the entire tourism value chain.
