Navis Capital, a company specializing in the management of collective investment funds in alternative assets, aims to grow in the hospitality sector by creating a fund to invest in campsites.
With the Atalaya project still in progress (which currently includes three hotels managed by THB Hotels), another goal is already being pursued, as confirmed by Beatriz Menéndez-Valdés, Director of Investments at the company. The manager reported to the Spanish news outlet Hosteltur that the fund for campsites could be launched by the end of this year.
The camping sector is quite unique, explained Beatriz Menéndez-Valdés, especially due to the difficulty of finding professional managers. However, Navis Capital has managed to assemble a competent management team, leading to the decision to seek the necessary capital for the creation of the fund.
But there are also other projects and ideas that Navis Capital is considering for 2024, still within the hospitality and vacation sector, which will likely materialize once the Atalaya project is completed. These include the launch of another vacation fund and one focused on budget urban hotels.
Atalaya, targeting the Canary Islands
Currently, the Atalaya fund, launched at the end of 2020, owns three properties in major Spanish tourist destinations, totaling nearly 700 rooms: the THB San Fermín Hotel in Benalmádena and the THB Bamboo and THB Niágara hotels, both in Mallorca. Half of the fund is still awaiting placement, and as indicated by Beatriz Menéndez Valdés, the acquisition of one or two additional hotels is being considered. Currently, there are two hotel projects in Lanzarote under analysis. Completing these operations would consolidate the fund’s portfolio and, most importantly, ensure a significant presence in Ibiza and the Canary Islands, which is currently lacking.
