Italian companies in the tourism sector can send from 12 noon today, 28 February 2022, and until 30 March 2022, applications to take advantage of the IFIT – Financial Incentives through the Invitalia web platform. This measure, promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, is provided for by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and represents the opportunity for companies in the tourism sector to make a qualitative leap, especially in terms of sustainability, safety and energy efficiency. Requests will be examined in chronological order of arrival and, at the end of the verification, the list of admitted applications will be published.

There are two forms of incentives. The tax credit of up to 80% of the costs, transferable to third parties (banks and other financial intermediaries), and the grant up to 50% of the costs, for a maximum amount of €40,000. This limit can be increased to €100,000 in the presence of particular requirements related to digitization, women’s and youth entrepreneurship, and Southern Italy. The concessions are aimed at a wide range of recipients of the tourism supply chain: hotels, agritourisms, open-air accommodation facilities, companies in the recreational, exhibition and congress sector, bathing establishments, spas, tourist ports, theme parks, including aquatic and faunal ones.

The incentive mainly supports the improvement of energy efficiency, to which 50% of the resources are allocated. A 40% share is also reserved for companies based in the southern regions: Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily. Other interventions allowed include: anti-seismic redevelopment, elimination of architectural barriers, extraordinary maintenance, restoration and conservative rehabilitation, building renovation, installation of artifacts and prefabricated buildings, digitization, purchase of furniture.

On the Invitalia website it is possible to download the forms and facsimile of the application and find information on how to submit and send the request. Furthermore, the functioning of IFIT is described in the Public Notice of 23 December, 2021 published by the Ministry of Tourism.
