In terms of bookings, camping continues to be the driving force in vacation planning, far more so than cruises, hotels and even all-inclusive clubs. The pandemic has further accelerated this trend: for this year, the association of the best campsites expects a 30 percent increase in guests over the previous year.

The association’s campsites offer a full range of premium solutions – from pitches for tents or motorhomes to fully equipped high-quality mobile homes, up to hotel rooms. “In order to counteract the trend of progressive consolidation through the formation of chains, we are focusing even more on individuality and trust in our many years of market expertise,” adds Pokrandt. “The premium camping guest will not find any conforming, 0-8-15 sites at Leadings, but high-quality camping and glamping offers with individual charm, which guarantee him his very incomparable, authentic camping experience.“.

The decade of service

LeadingCampings has been active in Europe for 28 years and has a deep understanding of the industry: “Based on new trends and guest feedback, we define our own strict quality standards as part of our brand core, constantly update them and also demand them from our members, if necessary,” concludes Pokrandt. “After a decade of major investments in facilities, we are now facing the service decade, where a certain kind of professionalism of staff is required and increasing”.

For the future, LeadingCampings of Europe wants to offer more digital services, such as those already common in the hotel or cruise industry. The association also intends to improve its profile compared to its competitors and use the enormous potential of its best campsites to meet the boom in demand for high-quality camping and glamping. Already today, the quality criteria that are carefully considered for the participating structures include the location and facilities, the number and quality of restaurants, swimming pools, or leisure sports facilities, glamping offers such as luxury mobile homes, wellness facilities, childcare, digital services and charging stations for electric vehicles.
