At the Reise + Camping fair in Essen, Germany, one of the most important events for the tourism and camping industry in Europe, the Camping Symposium “Back to Nature” was held, an initiative to promote innovation and education in the camping industry. As part of this program, during the opening day of the 2025 edition, the Obonjan Camping Resort, located on the stunning uninhabited island of Obonjan in Croatia, received a special award.
The recognition – presented by João Alves Pereira, President of the FICC (Fédération Internationale de Camping, Caravanning et Autocaravaning) – celebrates the exceptional quality of the “One Island – One Resort” project, an idea that originated in 1971 and transformed Obonjan into an exclusive camping and tourism experience, unique in Europe and worldwide.
The Obonjan Camping Resort perfectly blends the island’s unspoiled nature with refined architecture and meticulously designed interiors. The resort offers a luxury Mediterranean glamping experience with modern and eco-friendly accommodations (lodges and tents) seamlessly integrated into the natural environment. It also features restaurants, bars, a pizzeria, a seawater swimming pool, and all the necessary services for a vacation focused on both relaxation and outdoor adventure, allowing guests to explore every corner of the island.
This innovative approach has been recognized by FICC experts as an exemplary model that has brought significant added value to the camping industry. The award received by Obonjan Camping Resort is a tribute to the vision and creativity of those who transformed an abandoned island into a gem of open-air tourism. It stands as a virtuous example of sustainable development, capable of inspiring new generations of tourism and camping professionals.
