Italians want to escape, trying to leave behind the difficult periods linked to the Covid-19 pandemic. Interest in travel agency websites (+40% vs +15.5%), beaches and islands (+33% vs -19.1%), sports (+29% vs +24.4%), parks (+17% vs -32.1%), cruises and charters (+4% vs -17.6%), airport parking (+13% vs -27.6%), hotels & accommodation (+18% vs -4.7%) in fact testify to a clear tendency to want to break through the narrow walls of lockdowns. These data, compared with the previous quarter, come from the third release (February-May 2021) of the SevenData – ShinyStat Observatory report. The project was born with the aim of analyzing the trend of the interests of Italians on the web. In fact, thanks to the widespread use of its web analytics tools on the Italian market, it has a privileged observation point on these trends.
What emerges above all is the need, after months of pandemic and quarantines, to be outdoor in contact with nature. In fact, in acceleration we find themes such as motorhomes (+97% vs -7.2%), cycling (+63% vs +1.4%),%), trekking & camping (+59% vs -7.9%), basketball (+57% vs -2.9%), skate sports (+37% vs -9.9%), motorcycles (+26% vs -3.6%), bicycles and accessories (+27%), lakes and rivers (+25%), swimming pools & SPAs (+23%), volleyball (+20%), boats (+18%), running & walking (+16%) and air travel (+12%).
“The mood of the Italians is clearly improving. This is demonstrated by the newfound desire to escape and plan trips and activities, witnessed by the strong increase in interest in sites dealing with travel, both from the point of view of destinations and relative planning, and from the point of view of the means used to travel”, comments Fabrizio Vigo, CEO of SevenData. “In line with this trend is the growing interest in all sports and outdoor activities, which give a strong signal of how much the desire to escape from difficult times is rooted in the mood of Italians”.
