Once again in summer 2025, campsites confirm themselves as one of the top holiday choices for Spaniards. Unlike hotels and apartments, which have seen significant price increases in recent years, campsites have managed to keep price hikes under control, with an average tariff increase limited to just 7%. This combination of affordability and high-quality services is helping to fuel the growing success of outdoor vacations, a tourism model that’s becoming increasingly popular, especially among families with children.
According to data from INE, confirmed by the Spanish Camping Federation (FEEC), more than 16.8% of Spaniards chose camping for their summer holidays, over 4.2 million people. Projections indicate a total of 6.5 million tourists, both domestic and international, are expected between June and September, with a record forecast of 32 million overnight stays.
August: almost fully booked
In August, average occupancy is expected to exceed 90%, with hundreds of campsites set to reach full capacity, especially until August 24. Bungalows are nearly sold out, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find availability for pitches for motorhomes, campervans, and caravans. Even the newer form of outdoor tourism – glamping – is gaining traction, attracting more and more families seeking unique experiences in nature with a touch of comfort.
Interestingly, while the average holiday length is decreasing in other tourism sectors due to rising costs, campers are still maintaining an average stay of 7 days, although they are cutting back on spending for dining and extra activities.
“These figures confirm that we continue to grow and offer the best to both loyal guests and newcomers,” said Ana Beriain, President of the FEEC. “Knowing that over 16.8% of Spaniards trust us with their holidays is extraordinary, but also a responsibility that pushes us to keep improving. This summer we could reach nearly 32 million overnight stays and 6.5 million travelers, numbers that demonstrate our strong potential in the national tourism industry”.
