The French Campings.com and Alentour have signed an agreement to join forces and provide outdoor tourism enthusiasts with all the booking tools related to leisure. On the one hand, Campings.com serves one million people who book campsites in France every year, and on the other hand, Alentour offers online solutions that simplify the distribution and booking of outdoor activities.

The collaboration between the two companies is based on the complementarity of their respective platforms, and aims to meet the new needs of travelers who increasingly rely on online booking to organize their holidays and benefit from a complete, simple and secure offer. Specifically, travelers who book their stay in one of the 2,000 establishments listed on Campings.com in France will be offered the best leisure activities close to the chosen campsite, which can be booked in just a few clicks.

Over 16,000 Activities to Choose From

Campings.com customers will thus be able to access, in one place, the Alentour catalogue, which currently includes more than 16,000 leisure activities throughout the country: an offer without equal on the market. They will be able to discover in particular the outdoor and adventure activities offered by Manawa.com, Alentour’s outdoor experience booking site, such as surfing, tree climbing, paragliding, horse riding, guided hikes, or canyoning.

We are delighted with this solid and promising partnership between two leading French players in outdoor tourism and local businesses to continue offering travelers a simple, rich, and authentic customer experience,” commented Jérôme Mercier, CEO of Campings. com. “This also allows us to highlight the attractiveness of the territories to further strengthen the marketing of the outdoor accommodation offers of all our partners, who we further support in their digitization“.

The French Like Outdoor Activities

Outdoor activities are becoming increasingly popular with holidaymakers, a trend that has been accelerated by the health crisis. According to a study commissioned by Alentour to the research company Odoxa conducted last summer, 90% of French tourists said they practiced tourist and leisure activities during their holidays, classifying outdoor sports as their favorite (49%) , followed by cultural activities (48%), gastronomic or wine tourism (35%) and guided tours (31%).

We are very pleased to announce this partnership with Campings.com, which is fully in line with our goal of bringing leisure activities and, in particular, outdoor experiences to as many people as possible, said Timothée de Roux, president of Alentour and Manawa. “The summer season promises to be very favorable for open-air accommodation facilities: new customers will try camping for the first time, others will return… It is therefore the perfect opportunity to encourage them to experience unforgettable moments alone, with the family or with friends, offering them advice on activities to do on site and a simple and smooth booking experience“.

Launched in September 2021 as part of the French Tourism Recovery Plan, the Alentour platform aims to accelerate the digitization of the sector in order to increase the visibility and sales of activity providers, thus contributing to the dynamism of local tourism ecosystems.
