As promised by Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè during the Salone del Camper in Parma, the call for proposals was published today, allocating €32.87 million in resources for the creation and redevelopment of temporary motorhome parking areas for tourism purposes. The goal is to encourage and promote open-air tourism, a sector that has shown significant growth in recent years.

A concrete action to support a rapidly growing tourism segment, where investment was necessary, primarily to close the gap with our main European competitors,Santanchè commented in a statement. “We are organizing the sector, and these measures will provide new lifeblood to sustainably support the continuous growth of a sector that is proving to be a driving force for the economy.”

Who is eligible for the resources

The recipients of the measure are Italian municipalities with a population of no more than 20,000 inhabitants and that have available areas of public utility or public use for the intervention for which funding is requested.

Municipalities that do not meet the first requirement may also access the funds if they host recurring events or major events annually with an expected attendance of at least 20,000 people, or if they present projects for the construction of parking areas within 15 km of a historic and/or religious trail or a site recognized on the Unesco World Heritage List.

Up to €400,000 in contributions

The maximum contribution for each project cannot exceed 80% of the eligible expenditure. A maximum of €6,000 is provided for each parking space for new parking areas, and €3,600 per space for the redevelopment of existing parking areas. The maximum contribution per equipped parking area is €400,000 for new areas and €240,000 for the redevelopment of existing areas. Each intervention must be completed by June 30, 2026.

The funding application must be submitted via the online platform, which will be accessible with SPID/CIE credentials in the “Service News” section of the Ministry’s website 60 days after the publication of this notice. There will then be a 30-day window from the platform’s opening date to submit the application.
