June is a key month for the outdoor hospitality market, as bookings are gradually being finalised and the trends for the summer season become clearer. Septeo Hospitality’s monthly Barometer for the French market is therefore a reliable indicator of how the season is shaping up.

In its June analysis, the European publisher of software solutions for the hospitality sector paints a decidedly positive picture for the outdoor hospitality market. The report, which examines online bookings made between 1 and 30 June 2026, shows a market experiencing slight growth compared with the same period last year: bookings are up by 2% and turnover has increased by 5%, with an average spend of 591 per booking.

As far as destinations are concerned, there are no major surprises. Coastal and nature destinations continue to be the most popular, with the Atlantic coast once again emerging as the leading destination for the season. Strong growth was recorded in Vendée (+8%), Finistère (+7%), Somme (+17%) and the Pyrénées-Atlantiques (+5%), while the sharpest declines were seen in the Pyrénées-Orientales (-17%) and the Var (-8%). Hérault, France’s leading outdoor hospitality destination, maintained a broadly stable level of activity.

The domestic market continues to be the sector’s main driving force. French guests account for 72% of all bookings, while neighbouring markets remain dominant among international visitors. Germany continues to be the leading international market, representing 8% of bookings, followed by the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.

With regard to accommodation types, rental accommodation remains the preferred choice, accounting for 61% of online bookings. However, demand for bare pitches continues to grow, now representing 39% of the total. This also reflects the typical booking habits of campers, who generally reserve pitches closer to their departure date than rental accommodation.

2026 season focus: a balanced market in line with 2025

Septeo Hospitality‘s analysis also covers the entire period from 1 October 2025 to 30 June 2026, providing an overview of the season as a whole. After a slower start than in 2025, June enabled the market to recover lost ground, bringing the volume of online bookings back to the levels recorded during the previous season.

The remaining indicators also point to a balanced market. Average spending on rental accommodation has risen to 1,033, an increase of 0.8% compared with 2025, while spending on bare pitches has remained broadly stable (€326 compared with €329 last year). These figures confirm the good value achieved by the sector and the continued appeal of rental accommodation.

Booking lead times also remain high. The average lead time – the period between booking and arrival – is broadly unchanged from 2025, standing at 99 days for rental accommodation and 81 days for bare pitches. This means that holidaymakers continue to plan their summer holidays well in advance.

Finally, only limited changes have been recorded in the average length of stay. For rental accommodation, there was a slight decrease from 6.92 to 6.79 days (-1.9%), while the average stay on bare pitches reached 5.76 days, remaining broadly stable compared with last year (5.58 days in 2025). According to Septeo Hospitality, this trend mainly reflects a different optimisation of holidays rather than any slowdown in demand.

On the eve of the peak season, all indicators of the Barometer suggest that summer 2026 is set to continue the strong performance already recorded in 2025.
