The new Trasimeno Glamping Resort, an accommodation facility of the Vacanze col Cuore group located in Umbria, in the province of Perugia (Italy), opened on 7 July. The resort’s location is strategic for visiting some of the most beautiful cities of art and culture in central Italy, such as Assisi, Gubbio and Perugia. The Trasimeno Glamping Resort is based on an innovative “horizontal hotellerie” model that promises to redefine the open-air holiday experience.
“This little corner of paradise, in Magione, stole my heart many years ago, when I started working with the previous property,” said an excited Loek van de Loo, founder of the Italian-Dutch group, at the opening. “Back then I was the head of a large digital tour operating company, which collected bookings from Northern European tourists to spend their open-air holidays here in Italy. This overlook on the lake has always remained one of my favourite places, and when the opportunity to reopen it came up, my family and I did not hesitate: we immediately tried to tell the local administration about our project and bring it to life. It was challenging, especially this last period. The rain messed up our plans a bit (the official opening had been scheduled for 28 June, ed.), but I can finally officially declare Lake Trasimeno’s first glamping resort open!“.
Plenty of space and high-quality services
Vacanze col Cuore’s glamping offers the possibility of a stay in contact with nature but with all the best comforts, structured horizontally, aiming to organize spaces and services on a large surface immersed in nature, unlike a hotel which usually develops vertically, on multi-story cement architectures.
Following this philosophy, the Trasimeno Glamping Resort has been completely reorganized in the spaces by subtraction: each housing unit has a larger surrounding private area compared to traditional camping, in order to guarantee privacy and tranquility. In the 6 hectares of the resort, there are state-of-the-art mobile homes, including two housing units without architectural barriers for those with limited mobility, safari tents, unique accommodations, and pitches for campers and caravans, with direct access to the lake, with beach and pier. At full capacity, the resort can accommodate about 1,000 people.
Among the services available to guests, there is the new restaurant pizzeria, a bar, and an ice cream parlor. For the enjoyment of all, adults and children alike, there are the water park, multi-language edutainment activities (the Group’s trademark), the mini electric jeep service to discover the natural space for children, bike rental, a multipurpose synthetic field, a soccer field, and a volleyball court (both grass).
Finally, the entire park is totally car-free and has many indoor equipped areas where you can spend convivial moments and have fun even when it rains!
Nine Glamping Resorts between Italy and the Netherlands
The Vacanze col Cuore Group was founded in 2018 by Loek Van de Loo, a true pioneer of glamping in Italy and an expert in the field, included in the 2020 Hall of Fame of open-air tourism by the ADAC, the German touring club.
With the upcoming opening of the Trasimeno Glamping Resort, the Italian-Dutch holding can count on a total offer of 9 resorts, with a preference for locations on lakes: on Lake Garda, in fact, overlook the Weekend Glamping Resort, the Vacanze Glamping Boutique, the Park Residence il Gabbiano, and the Sivinos Camping Boutique; on Lake Idro, in the Brescia area, there is instead the Lago Idro Glamping Boutique. Finally, on Lake Trasimeno, the latest addition, the Trasimeno Glamping Resort.
Still in Central Italy, there are two other Vacanze col Cuore-branded structures: the Vallicella Glamping Resort in Scarlino (GR) and the Orlando in Chianti Glamping Resort in Cavriglia (AR). In the Netherlands, finally, there is the Papillon Country Resort.
