Sustainable tourism is becoming more and more relevant. The Croatian company Valamar immediately realized this, so much so that it developed a real strategy, which can be found summarized on a dedicated website. “As the leading tourism company in the region, Valamar places a strong focus on sustainable tourism in all our destinations,” they wrote on Linkedin. “We engage our guests, employees, suppliers, local communities, and shareholders – caring together for our values”.
To develop its sustainability strategy, Valamar has adopted a systemic approach to protect its key assets: nature and people. As a result, 6 strategic ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives have been defined, three of which are dedicated to the environment, two to the social aspect and one to governance:
- Protect the climate
- Take care of the Adriatic, biodiversity & food
- Ensure responsible water & waste management
- Empower employees
- Develop our destinations
- Ensure responsible governance
“We believe that building a better future starts with bringing people together to achieve results that benefit our environment for current and future generations,” concludes Valamar. “From the use of recycled materials and renewable energy to local food – everything will be in the service of a green balance”.
