This is highlighted by the latest <strong>Economic Impact Research (EIR) from the World Travel &amp; Tourism Council<\/strong>, according to which the sector recorded growth significantly higher than that of the global economy.<\/p>\n<p>According to <u><a href=\"https:\/\/wttc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTTC<\/a><\/u> data, in 2025 <strong>tourism<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong><strong>s contribution to global GDP<\/strong> reached a record level of <strong>US$11.6 trillion<\/strong>, equal to 9.8% of the total, while the sector\u2019s growth rate (4.1%) exceeded that of the global economy, which stood at 2.8%, by almost 50%. International overnight arrivals this year amounted to 1.54 billion, equivalent to <strong>4.2 million people travelling every day<\/strong>. Figures that confirm tourism as one of the pillars of international economic expansion.<\/p>\n<p>Further strengthening this picture are employment figures: the sector accounted for <strong>366 million jobs worldwide<\/strong>, equal to 10.9% of the total, contributing decisively to job creation, with <strong>one in three new jobs generated by tourism<\/strong>. A result that marks a historic milestone and underlines the growing weight of the sector at global level.<\/p>\n<h4>Regional outlook: Asia-Pacific in strong momentum, North America slower<\/h4>\n<p>Within this extremely positive context, however, <strong>significant differences emerge<\/strong> between world regions. The <strong>Asia-Pacific region<\/strong> stands out as the most dynamic, with <strong>tourism GDP growth of 8.1% in 2025<\/strong>, driven by market reopening, the recovery of international demand and strong regional connectivity. The total value thus <strong>reached US$3.29 trillion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, <strong>North America<\/strong> recorded more limited performance, with <strong>growth stopping at just 1%<\/strong>, for a total of <strong>US$3.05 trillion<\/strong>. This trend reflects both the <strong>slow recovery of international tourism flows<\/strong> and the characteristics of <strong>a now mature market<\/strong>. The gap between the two regions highlights how factors such as public policies, levels of investment and the degree of openness to international markets continue to <strong>significantly influence<\/strong> the development trajectories of tourism globally.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c<\/em><em>Despite the global challenges of 2025,<\/em><em>\u201d <\/em>said <strong>Gloria Guevara<\/strong>, President &amp; CEO of WTTC, \u201c<em>the Travel &amp; Tourism sector had its best year ever, which demonstrates its resilience<\/em>. <em>This is a defining moment.
