In Germany, the movement for the reopening of commercial activities is quite active. In the outdoor tourism industry, Truma and the Camping.info portal have decided to launch a petition, which is currently signed by over 11.000 people.
“The aim of this petition”, is written on the Openpetition.de website, “is to achieve the gradual resumption of camping tourism in Germany and in particular to support the elaborated phased plan of the Bundesverband der Campingwirtschaft e.V. (BVCD). Camping tourism should be viewed differently from other forms of tourism. In particular, the self-sufficiency and the good conditions for adhering to social distancing in camping tourism speak in favor of a rapid recovery”.
According to Truma and the portal, there are many factors that distinguish camping from other types of holidays, and which are in favor of reopening. Among these, the trip made with individual transportation vehicle; a very low risk of contagion linked to the use of tents, motorhomes, caravans and mobile homes; and the ease of maintaining social distancing.
The request is therefore to allow the immediate reopening of outdoor accommodation for those who use them permanently, allowing itinerant tourists equipped with recreational vehicles from mid-May, even if with some restrictions, to then verify in June the situation and allow, if everything is under control, even the use of tents.
The request to sign the petition is signed directly by Alexander Wottrich, CEO of Truma, and Maximilian Möhrle, head of Camping.info.
