Italy “sentiment” on the web and social networks is positive. This was revealed by the weekly newsletter of the Enit-National Tourism Agency, which underlines how “web searches on tourism in Italy produce over 300 million views”. The country does not scare and is considered essentially “Covid-free”, constantly monitored and reassuring.

According to the data analyzed, at the end of May there were over 750k citations on the trip to Italy, of which 50k appeared on the web and more than 700k thousand on social media, which produced 207.1 million interactions. With the space that European and American newspapers dedicate to the theme of the pandemic in Italy progressively decreasing, there are over 618k reactions dedicated to the peninsula, including 85,400 of affection, 335,200 of empathetic sadness and 60,300 of amazement. Enit also notes that the epidemic trend is no longer the only pole of interest for web searches on Italy: the “economy” theme (13 percent of research) exceeds the “health” macro-theme (9.3%) , while culture (5.2%) rises to fourth position. The negative trend is completely reset.

In recent months, the drop in foreign visitors was considerable. From the beginning of 2020 to the end of April the total volume of arrivals by air in Italy decreased by 64.5%, compared to the same period last year, and the analysis of Summer reservations from June to August shows a drop of 87,1%. Long-haul flights for the extended May-October period are also very evident: Japan (-80.9%), Brazil (-74.4%), South Korea and the USA (both at -72.9%) and Australia (-70.2%).
