Croatia sees the popularity rating of European tourists rising

Croatia was one of the first European countries to welcome foreign tourism back. Its campsites have been operational since May (technically they could have opened as early as 11 of that month) and its popularity rating is rising. A recent survey carried out by the German ADAC, while confirming the tendency to prefer holidays between national borders, sees Croatia as a favorite destination when thinking about traveling abroad. In the Top 10 drawn up annually by the association of German motorists, Croatia leaps to the first place of preferences, with 13.8 percent of popularity (replacing Italy, which drops to third place).

The country also appears to be very high in consideration of the French. This was revealed by MisterFly, a website specialized in airline tickets sale, according to which Croatia is among the most requested foreign tourist destinations on the French market. The Hrturizam.hr portal writes that a fair tourist flow is also expected from Great Britain, given that in the United Kingdom the Mediterranean country is indicated as an ideal destination for this Summer 2020.

The positive signal also comes from Hungary. According to the latest classification of foreign countries adopted by the Hungarian government, Croatia has been placed in the green category, which means that Hungarian citizens who spend their holidays in Croatia are under no obligation to quarantine or submit a Covid-19 test on their return to their country. “For us the Hungarian market is among the Top 10 and I believe that the news of the inclusion of Croatia in the green category will further encourage our Hungarian guests to spend their holidays in our country,” said Kristjan Stanicic, director of the Croatian Tourist Board.

A little concern, however, are the latest numbers of the infection, which in recent weeks, although on a very low absolute numerical basis, have shown an upward trend. For this, Norway has left Croatia on the list of restricted countries (which provide for 10 days of self-isolation on return) for at least another two weeks. According to the latest data, the total outbreaks since the beginning of the epidemic are around 4,000, with just over 1,200 currently positive.
