Camping Business – The brand brings together the experience of a family specialised in woodworking. Can you tell us how the idea for My Tuscan Wood was born and with what aim?
Carlo Chiellini My Tuscan Wood is the updated version of a family tradition spanning four generations of woodworking. In this century of craftsmanship, we have evolved and can now offer step-by-step, also digitally, support to both private and public entities in setting up and servicing. Our passion has led us to elevate the concept of the mere use of wood, not only tickling the eye but also making the most of technological development.

Camping Business – With what type of products do you specifically target open-air accommodations?
Carlo Chiellini  Flooring and walkways are at the centre of our offer: we want to help facilities and their customers as much as possible in using the areas available to them. In addition to these, there are a number of other products designed for outdoors, such as the brand new Kanguro, structures designed to contain, organise, and make waste collection containers more pleasing to the eye.

Camping Business – Which are your most successful outdoor products and which are the most suitable woods for them?
Carlo Chiellini The first is called Alice and is our walkway: designed to have different widths and lengths, it is easy to roll up and assemble thanks to a simple hooking system. Moreover, it has been certified by the Giordano Institute; the second is the result of the union of various “tiles” or wooden planks to create a real floor, completely customisable and fireproof. Finally, the latest addition to My Tuscan Wood, is Kanguro: this is a structure designed to house the waste collection. Kanguro is stable, durable, and pleasing to the eye. For all our products we use only tropical woods, sourced from Brazil, with a durability of 25 years without the need for chemical treatments, and all chosen in accordance with all current regulations. Tatajuba, Ipe, and Garapa are in fact among the best woods in the world in terms of hardness, resistance to wear, weather, and temperature changes, as well as being immune to attack by fungi and parasites.

Camping Business – Your products are sold exclusively online. What are the advantages and why this choice?
Carlo Chiellini Online sales are actually just the beginning of a relationship that aims to be personal and lasting with each customer. In fact, we can digitally follow the design and then, closely, the assembly and assistance. The core business, on the other hand, is done in person, as we are very keen to advise the customer and fulfil the wishes of the occasion. This applies to both private customers and partnerships with professionals, such as companies or architects.

Camping Business – Sustainability and traceability are two very important and topical aspects. How does My Tuscan Wood handle them?
Carlo Chiellini We are very attentive to wood, precisely because of the love we have for this material: we devote our days and our utmost efforts to it; at times, we almost feel a paternal bond with our products. For this reason, all our timber is selected and imported according to current regulations, without omitting any step. Moreover, when they arrive at our Livorno headquarters, the materials are prepared to be cut and processed according to the customer’s needs.

Camping Business – Do you have a project/product that you particularly care about?
Carlo Chiellini Certainly Alice is what we call a family member. In fact, this gangway has seen, and continues to have, several evolutions, in order to keep up with the proposal to the customer and to make the most of technological updates. It is a valid product for bathing establishments but can also be used to facilitate passages over sand dunes that “hide” beaches from the noise of the streets. These walkways, which can be used on both sides, require no chemical treatment or other painting, protection, or polishing, and have an average durability of 25 years.

Camping Business – What differentiates you in terms of quality and services from more traditional competitors?
Carlo Chiellini We are a family-run company, born out of the artisan experience of four generations, a hundred years ago now. We have always wanted to distinguish ourselves not only by the type of products we offer, but also by the almost sartorial assistance we provide to our customers. In fact, our products are not ready-made: we can shape, vary, or customise any product according to requirements, cutting, and machining the wood as soon as the project begins. This attention does not end when the product is delivered, but continues with full after-sales support. We care about our products and our customers: they are the best ambassadors of our name!
