After having kept hope alive for months, the latest numbers of infections in France, especially in the Paris region, led to the painful decision: the 55th edition of the Salon des Véhicules De Loisirs will not be held. The event, the third largest in Europe after the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf and the Salone del Camper in Parma, was scheduled to take place from 26 September to 4 October.
The current French emergency regulations prevent the event from taking place, prohibiting until October 30 any event that, in areas declared at risk, brings together more than 5,000 people. The organizers have therefore decided to postpone everything to next year. Visitors who have already purchased their ticket online will be refunded. The appointment for the new edition has already been set from 25 September to 3 October 2021 at the Parc des Expositions de Paris-Le Bourget.
The outdoor tourism sector is not the only one to register defections. Metstrade, the world’s largest exhibition of equipment, materials and systems for the international yachting industry, which was scheduled from 17 to 19 November in Amsterdam, has also thrown in the towel. In this case also, the motivation is linked to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Caravan and motorhome enthusiasts and industry professionals can instead find themselves, barring last-minute surprises, in Düsseldorf from 4 to 13 September and in Parma from 12 to 20 of the same month.
