The German tourism chain launches the awareness campaign: “We are tourism!”.A joint project among BVCD (Federal Association of the Camping Industry in Germany), Allianz (independent travel company), BundesForum Kinder- und Jugendreisen eV (federation of operators in the travel sector for children and young people), ÖVT-Austrian Association (Professional association for medium-sized travel agencies), Verband Internet Reisevertrieb eV ( VIR) (Association of digital tourism operators).
“Tourism represents 3.9 percent of total gross value added in Germany – say the representatives of the BVCD – “Over 2.9 million people work in tourism, most of them in small and medium-sized enterprises. In the current situation, this important industry and tourism businesses are in serious danger of survival. To give a face to our sector, the platform www.wir-sind-tourismus.reisen has been put online”.
In the website every tourist can upload a picture of himself. The images are checked by the team and published.
