Sequoiasoft, a French company specialising in the creation of management software for accommodation facilities, has published its “Online Reservation Barometer” for December 2022. The study is based on a selection of 668 French campsites equipped with the eSeason Resa Internet booking system. The first results for the period October-December show a very positive trend, with +34.4% growth compared to 2022, +108% compared to 2021 and +36.5% compared to 2020. An excellent start to the season, even if the geopolitical and economic situation is causing a sense of uncertainty, which already had an impact on Internet bookings in 2022. So, it is too restless to make predictions, but there is no doubt that the first figures invite optimism for the French open-air structures.
December was even better
Focusing on the month of December alone, Internet bookings grew by 51.1% compared to December 2021,
as did the share of foreign customers. 60% of bookings were made by French customers in December 2022 compared to 62% in December 2021. Pitches accounted for 20% of bookings in December 2022 compared to 22% in December 2021.

Who books the most among Europeans
The Dutch pushed Internet bookings (+55%) at campsites at the start of the season, but Italian, Swiss, and British customers also contributed to the acceleration of bookings by foreigners. Belgians and Germans are up on 2022, with +24% and +31% respectively. Finally, Internet bookings by the French increased by 35% compared to 2022.

In & out
On the podium of the French departments with the highest number of Internet bookings at the beginning of the year are the Hérault, the Var and the Vendée in the top three places respectively. The Côte-d’Or, Cher and Haute-Vienne, on the other hand, are the least visited by tourists.
