The 2024 edition of Girocamping Pro concluded with the awards ceremony on September 26th, an event organized by the Girona Camping Association, which represents 81% of the region’s campsites through its 74 members. In the presence of various political figures, local authorities, and representatives from the Catalan government, as reported by the Spanish trade magazine Camping Profesional, entrepreneurs and companies who made a significant contribution to the development of campsites in the region were recognized.
Among the awardees were two prominent entrepreneurs in the sector, honored for their long-standing dedication to campsite development, with a particular focus on managing in harmony with the surrounding natural environment. Joan Carles Alcántara, owner of Las Palmeras campsite in Sant Pere Pescador, received the Jaume Genover i Roig 2024 Award, while Toni Castellar, director of La Ballena Alegre campsite in Sant Pere Pescador, was awarded the Josep Suñé Award for his commitment to sustainability, digitalization, and organizing major sporting events.
Darnés Grup, the main supplier for Girona’s campsites, received the Girocamping 2024 Award for its support in transforming the region’s tourism sector, which is recognized at the European level. Lastly, thanks to customer votes, La Ballena Alegre won the Campsite of the Year Award, reaffirming its position as one of the best campsites on the Costa Brava.
