Tiny houses, compact homes designed according to environmental sustainability criteria, are becoming increasingly widespread on campsites. This trend has made it increasingly evident that there is a need to clarify and simplify the regulations governing their installation.
To address this need, the two main German associations in the sector, the Tiny House Verband (THV) and the Bundesverband der Campingwirtschaft in Deutschland (BVCD), have announced the launch of a stable collaboration on the main legal and political issues. The aim is to address key matters such as simplifying building regulations applicable to campsites, defining shared quality standards for glamping and promoting a continuous exchange of knowledge and experience among sector operators.
THV and BVCD aim to clarify the regulatory status of tiny houses and mobile homes on campsites, also in order to enable their long-term installation and their possible use as second homes.
A driver for attracting new customers
The first joint initiative by THV and BVCD has already been launched, taking place during the recent New Housing Messe in Karlsruhe. “As the tiny house association, we want the leisure sector to benefit as well from the flexibility and sustainability offered by these housing solutions. We see great potential for campsite operators, who can make available areas that are already developed and equipped with the necessary infrastructure to accommodate tiny houses,” says Regina Schleyer, President of THV.
BVCD Director Frank Schaal underlined that the spread of tiny houses would enable campsites to attract new customer segments that would not normally consider a camping holiday. For this reason, the collaboration between the two associations represents great potential to further enhance the sector and offer camping enthusiasts an additional alternative to motorhomes, caravans and tents.
ECA Technology, new Camping Business partner, focuses strongly on environmental sustainability
