As anticipation builds for the debut of the new Cube 800, the maxi caravan with which Lidu has rethought space planning, the relationship with the outdoor environment and interior flexibility by starting from the guest experience, the Chinese manufacturer is already bringing this design philosophy to another product by completing the redesign of the Aquila 360, the smallest caravan in its range.
The interior redesign, developed in collaboration with the German design studio DDS Design, represents another step in the company’s effort to establish a consistent design language across its product portfolio, regardless of market segment.
Although the Aquila 360 is aimed at a different market than the Cube 800, both projects share the same guiding principles: enhancing the living experience, strengthening the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, using natural materials and creating environments that are both functional and comfortable. The redesigned Aquila 360 will be displayed at Caravan Salon, providing a first tangible example of the design direction Lidu is pursuing.

A design that strengthens the connection with nature
The Aquila 360’s defining feature remains its large rear hatch, a solution that extends the continuity between the interior and the surrounding landscape, transforming the caravan into a living space that opens directly to the outdoors. This design approach reflects one of the strongest trends in the mobile home sector, where the relationship with the surrounding environment is becoming an increasingly important part of the guest experience.
Building on this architecture, DDS Design has developed a new interior concept inspired by natural materials and a clean, understated aesthetic. Felt, wood finishes and Italian fabrics are combined with a palette of warm, earthy colours to create a relaxing and timeless atmosphere. The design favours clean surfaces, the discreet integration of technical elements and an ambience inspired by the comfort of Alpine homes and coastal cottages.
Design and functionality in a compact space
Despite its compact dimensions, the Aquila 360 is designed to offer a high degree of flexibility. The U-shaped lounge can quickly be converted into a 160 × 200 cm double bed, while the kitchen incorporates a compressor refrigerator and a pantry. The layout is completed by a waterless separating toilet, reflecting growing interest in solutions that reduce resource consumption.
From a construction perspective, the model features a full aluminium chassis and an aluminium body built using principles derived from the automotive industry, a solution intended to reduce weight while improving long-term durability.
A shared design identity across the range
With the redesign of the Aquila 360 and the forthcoming launch of the new Cube 800, Lidu appears to be building a consistent design identity across its entire product range, applying the same principles to products serving different markets. Attention to space organisation, perceived interior quality and the relationship with the surrounding environment are common elements shared by both the caravan and the future accommodation unit designed for campsites.

Aquila 360 was unveiled in its world premiere at the Caravan Salon Düsseldorf 2026, where Lidu also presented the latest developments in its growth strategy for the recreational vehicle and open-air hospitality sectors.
