ÖÖD, an Estonian company specializing in the production of mirror-clad living units, lands in Italy with the opening of its first ÖÖD Hotel in the heart of Tuscany, in Lunigiana. After having aborted a previously announced project last year due to various issues, the time has now come for the brand’s true Italian debut. This marks a strategic milestone in the development of the brand in Southern Europe, while also presenting an opportunity for the open-air hospitality sector.
ÖÖD Houses are structures designed to blend seamlessly with the natural environment: thanks to their mirrored design, they visually merge with the surrounding landscape, minimizing their aesthetic impact. Additionally, the project follows a completely reversible approach, made possible by the Krinner screw foundation system, which allows for installation without any permanent cementing.
In Lunigiana, at Spino Fiorito, a true contemporary treehouse is being created – born from the collaboration with architect Paolo Scoglio, already known in the sector for his nature-integrated projects, and the award-winning Italian firm WaldenHouse. Installation of the facility, which also includes a sauna module, is scheduled for the first half of May (a tentative rendering is shown in the opening photo).
This first opening will serve as a flagship point for ÖÖD, with the goal of fostering new collaborations in the Italian and European markets. The company is indeed seeking partners – landowners, campsites, or other facilities – interested in hosting ÖÖD units within their hospitality venues. ÖÖD already boasts over 30 installations worldwide, but this marks the first in Italy and Southern Europe, representing a significant step forward in the company’s expansion strategy. The official inauguration is scheduled for early June, with an open day for the public and industry professionals, including the specialized press.
