For the Conversazioni @ Camping Business series, at the SETT in Montpellier we met with Roel Masselink, Co-founder of Camping.care, to discuss software solutions for campsites and the future of digital management in outdoor hospitality. Masselink presented Camping.care as a native cloud platform designed specifically for European campsites.

The platform stands out for its full compliance with regulations in over 90% of European countries, an achievement reached after approximately four years of development. Thanks to this approach, Camping.care can offer multilingual and multi-currency capabilities, supporting over 700 campsites across 16 countries, with planned expansion in Italy in the coming years, where the team is establishing a local presence to facilitate regulatory and operational integration.

A key feature of the solution is its technical flexibility: Camping.care is a “headless cloud” system, based on APIs, which allows easy integration with third-party services, such as access control systems with licence plate recognition. This approach provides a ready-to-use software solution that is also easily customisable to meet the specific needs of each client.

From a market perspective, Masselink highlights that around 40% of European campsites still do not offer online booking. Camping.care data shows that sites with online booking systems connected to multiple channels perform significantly better, with 56% of bookings coming from digital sources or directly via the campsite’s own website.

Camping.care has recently integrated artificial intelligence into its PMS through two main tools: a new MCP protocol for automation and guest communication, and CAI (Care AI), a multilingual virtual assistant trained on over 1,000 articles, designed to support campsites in daily operations while maintaining direct, personal contact with clients, also available by phone in seven languages.
