After the success of the 2024 edition in Perth, Australia, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has chosen Rome as the host city for the 25th Global Summit, marking a highly anticipated return to Europe after six years. The event, scheduled for September 28-30, 2025, will take place at the Auditorium Parco della Musica and will be organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, ENIT, the Municipality of Rome, and the Lazio Region.

Recognized as the most prestigious global event in the Travel & Tourism sector, the Summit will bring together international leaders, government representatives, and industry innovators to discuss the key challenges and opportunities shaping the industry. Over the years, prestigious speakers and prominent figures such as Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Ban Ki-moon, and, in the previous edition, 68th U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and conservationist Robert Irwin have contributed to shaping global policies, addressing critical issues such as sustainability, climate challenges, and the relationship between the tourism industry and environmental protection.

The 2025 edition aims to serve as a global platform for shaping the future of tourism, with a high-level agenda focusing on key topics such as digital transformation, regenerative tourism, and investment strategies. The detailed event program will be announced in the coming months.

An opportunity to strengthen Italy’s leadership

WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson expressed her enthusiasm for bringing the Summit back to Europe, emphasizing how Rome is the ideal setting to host the world’s top travel and tourism representatives: “I am delighted to bring our Global Summit back to Europe, shining a spotlight on the iconic city of Rome. One of the world’s most beloved city destinations, Rome will provide the perfect setting for our members, government representatives, and distinguished guests from across the globe”.

Italy’s Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, highlighted the significance of the event, which will showcase the crucial role of tourism in the global economy and reinforce Italy’s leadership in the sector: “Italy is ready to seize this opportunity to strengthen its leadership position in the tourism industry by promoting sustainability, digital innovation, and experiential tourism. We firmly believe that events of this caliber are essential to fostering dialogue between the public and private sectors, attracting new investments, and securing a prosperous future for our industry, which is one of the key drivers of our country’s economy”.
