The year 2025 is shaping up to be a golden one for outdoor tourism in Europe. But which destinations do campers love the most? The answer comes from camping.info, one of Europe’s largest camping platforms with around 23,000 campsites across 44 countries and over 135 million annual page views. The site has published its ranking of the 100 most popular campsites of the season, based on millions of page views recorded between January and September 2025.
The verdict is clear: Italy shines at the top, sweeping the podium with three prestigious campsites. Leading the way for the third consecutive year is Campeggio Europa Silvella, a 5-star campsite in San Felice del Benaco on the southwestern shore of Lake Garda. The site offers direct lake access, three swimming pools, pet-friendly services, and a wide variety of accommodation options, from traditional camping to village stays and glamping. It is followed by two other top Veneto-based facilities: the family-friendly Union Lido Mare in Cavallino and the Centro Vacanze Pra’ delle Torri in Caorle.
Germany, queen of outdoor holidays
While Italy excels in the quality of its sites, Germany dominates in terms of the number of campsites featured in the camping.info ranking: no fewer than 41 German campsites have made it into the Top 100, confirming the booming success of open-air holidays in the country. With over 17 million overnight stays in the first half of 2025 alone, German campsites have reached a new record. Bavaria leads the way with 10 campsites in the ranking, followed by Lower Saxony (8), Schleswig-Holstein and Baden-Württemberg (6 each), and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (4).
Italy follows with 19 campsites in the list, then Austria with 15, and Croatia with 14. Other featured destinations include Slovenia, Greece, Poland, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
More than a third of the listed campsites are also winners of the camping.info Award 2025, based on over 110,000 user reviews, underscoring the importance of shared camper experiences in the decision-making process. In addition, many of the Top 100 campsites participate in the camping.info FANCLUB, offering travelers exclusive perks such as discounts, restaurant vouchers, and welcome gifts. These FANCLUB benefits make the participating campsites even more attractive for campers.
