The 2021 edition of the SETT – Salon des équipements et techniques du tourisme, of which Camping Business is media partner, will be held from November 2 to 4, 2021. This is the leading professional fair, at European level, in the field of open-air accommodation. It hosts 600 exhibitors every year, welcoming more than 16,000 open-air tourism professionals in search of the latest trends and innovations in the sector.

Born in 1978, the SETT was founded by the regional federation of Languedoc-Roussillon. Building on its success, it expands every year and currently brings together, as partners, 7 other regional federations: Midi-Pyrénées, Rhône-Alpes, Auvergne, Corse, Limousin, Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur and Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

Big numbers for the show

After a summer season that stands out for satisfactory results, with obvious disparities according to the various regions and the structures, the SETT confirms itself as an unmissable event, in which the players in the sector will be able to meet to better prepare for the 2022 season. 2021 sees the presence of over 55,000 square meters of exhibition areas and already boasts more than 550 registered exhibitors.

Internationally recognized, the SETT is reserved for industry professionals (managers and owners of campsites, holiday homes, agritourisms, bars, restaurants, playgrounds, hotels, bathing establishments and so on). It offers them a variety of areas corresponding to the needs of their business (HoReCa equipment, services, digital communication, games and entertainment, swimming pools and wellness, housing structures, green spaces with related equipment).

As every year, the 3 days of the show will feature events within the event. Particular attention will be paid to innovation, with the organization of the SETT d’Or in partnership with the professional magazine Décision, and to information, through a program of conferences and appointments with industry experts on regulatory, legal, fiscal, social, and sanitary themes. There will be moments of conviviality too, with several meetings between open air professionals.

Good results for the summer season

This year the low season, traditionally that of the Easter holidays and spring weekends, did not occur due to the health context and restrictions, which limited the activity. According to SETT, the recovery took place after June 15 and reservations and the presence of tourists were not long in coming. Some tourists, passionate about holidays abroad, have rediscovered the charm of France, creating a new balance and compensating for the smaller presence of foreigners.

The summer season is not over yet, but the consolidation of the results achieved to date, and which will last until the end of the season itself, should highlight very good data, which are better than the expected forecasts and above all not far from the figures of 2019.

In France, open-air accommodation has over 8,000 campsites, confirming itself in first place in terms of the number of structures of this type in Europe and second in the world. The campsite is the leading tourist accommodation sector, with about 22 million guests who opt for this type of holiday every year.

“Today we look to the future with optimism and confidence. Over the past months, our industry has moved very effectively and has been able to adapt in record time to the measures and protocols put in place by the government, allowing us to continue our business in the best possible way”, says Philippe Robert, President of the federation of Languedoc-Roussillon. “The results were evident, despite a late start to the season, the guests trusted us, we were able to seduce a new clientele, who normally prefer holidays abroad, and our regular guests were also present”.

Investments for the 2022 season

The past 2 years have not been favorable for investments, due to an uncertain environment marked by closures and prolonged stops in activity. The whole industry has concentrated its energy on staff training and on the adaptations to be made to comply with the health standards and measures imposed.

According to the SETT, professionals in the sector can resume, to maintain their state-of-the-art facilities, the investments that they were unable to make in 2020 and 2021. The 2021 edition of the fair will therefore be a unique opportunity for everyone to discover the latest news in the sector.

“In the current context, SETT 2021 will allow more than ever to identify new avant-garde ideas so that open-air receptivity adapts and responds to the new challenges, while maintaining good economic profitability”, concluded Philippe Robert.
