The second edition of the Forum Open Air, organised by FAITA Federcamping, came to a close last Thursday. Among the main topics, sustainability stood out as a key focus. The Federation regards open-air tourism as a driving force in the ecological transition, capable of encouraging responsible practices, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing local areas.

The FAITA Open Air 2030 project was created to provide the open-air tourism sector with a concrete pathway towards environmental, social, and digital sustainability. Developed in partnership with Intesa Sanpaolo, eAmbiente, Village for all-V4A, and Legambiente, the initiative – launched in 2023 – serves as a laboratory for innovation and growth within the industry. Through targeted analyses and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) assessment tools, the project helps campsites and holiday villages understand and improve their performance, driving a profound transformation that combines competitiveness, responsibility, and local engagement.

During the evening event Dining & Dreams Reimagined, sponsored by Crippaconcept, two camping villages were recognised as best-in-class for each of the sustainability pillars, based on their rating results. The winners received their awards from Sergio Redaelli, CEO of Crippaconcept – a prize symbolically crafted using two key materials from mobile homes: cork for the exterior and wood for the flooring.

The scores were based on a detailed questionnaire completed by the participating camping villages, which explored all the themes mentioned above in depth.

This category assessed facilities that achieved an above-average score across the Energy, Circularity, Land, Air and Water criteria.
