The 61st edition of TTG Travel Experience and the second edition of InOut | The Contract Community, organized by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), concluded in Rimini with record-breaking numbers. The event, a key reference point for the tourism sector, recorded a 9% increase in qualified attendance, with a 15% growth in international operators compared to 2023. Over the three days, the fair hosted 2,700 exhibitors, 1,000 buyers from 62 countries, and facilitated 18,000 business meetings.

For campsite owners and managers, the event confirmed itself as a key opportunity to explore new possibilities in outdoor tourism. The growing demand for authentic and personalized experiences was at the heart of discussions, with particular attention given to innovative hospitality solutions presented by InOut | The Contract Community, of which Camping Business was a media partner. The format showcased the latest trends in furniture and design for hotel and non-hotel facilities, including campsites and holiday villages, with new technologies and designs aimed at enhancing guest experiences.

Prominent in the rich program of events for the outdoor sector was the conference “Open Air 2024 – economic survey, trends and performance of the 2024 tourism season” proposed by FAITA-FederCamping. On this occasion, the results of two researches were presented, one carried out by CISET on a national sample of outdoor accommodations and the other by HBenchmark on two “clusters” of facilities (lake and seaside) mainly concentrated in Northern Italy.

International tourism and outdoor trends

TTG saw the participation of buyers primarily from North America, the United Kingdom, and Germany, showing strong interest in Italian destinations. All 20 regions of Italy were represented, including villages and art cities, confirming the appeal of the country for international tourism. Interest in cycling tourism and outdoor tourism is also on the rise, areas where Italian campsites can play a strategic role.

Innovation and luxury: new opportunities

The luxury tourism segment, in which Italy leads in Europe with a market share of 21%, was given its own dedicated event, the Luxury Event by TTG. Even campsites can draw inspiration from these trends, focusing on glamping experiences and high-end services to attract an increasingly demanding clientele.

Finally, TTG Next Start-up introduced new technological solutions for the tourism sector, with innovative start-ups poised to revolutionize campsite management and enhance the guest experience, particularly in the fields of mobility and hospitality.

Looking ahead to 2025

The 2024 edition of TTG Travel Experience reaffirmed the key role of tourism in Italy’s economic growth, as highlighted by the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè. The fair remains an unmissable event for outdoor tourism operators, offering new networking and growth opportunities at the next edition, scheduled for October 8-10, 2025.
