JetCamp is a reality born a few years ago with the declared goal of becoming the leading company in the search and booking of European campsites. Today it lists nearly 23,000 structures. In recent research, the company – which has offices in the Netherlands, Austria, and Lithuania – wanted to focus on the best Italian destinations for camping lovers. The popularity index
To determine what makes a campsite popular, a popularity index was created. This index was developed by examining the number of reviews by Municipality, Region and for the whole of Italy. The number of camping reviews per municipality is divided by the largest number of reviews in a municipality. This number is then multiplied by 100. The resulting figure determines the popularity index of an area.
Let’s take the example of Rome Capitale. The 9 campsites featured have a total of 19,087 reviews. The municipality with the most reviews is Cavallino-Treporti with 38,038 reviews. The popularity index of Roma Capitale is then calculated as follows:
19,087 / 38,038 * 100 = 50.17, which corresponds to a rounded score of 50.
The popularity index revealed that municipalities with a high popularity index are often found in the Veneto region. Here is the Top 5 according to the popularity index by JetCamp:
- Municipality of Cavallino-Treporti (Veneto): index 100
