ADAC Camping sent its inspectors to campsites all over Europe to check their quality this year too. An important result was achieved in 2021: 28 new “ADAC Superplätze”, an increase of 21 percent. The list of the top European luxury campsites thus reaches a total of 158. “28 new ADAC Superplätze show where the journey in camping is heading: higher quality for increasingly demanding campers”, says Uwe Frers, Managing Director of ADAC Camping. There has also been a sharp increase in the number of 4 and 4.5 star campsites: 103 campsites have switched to this segment and received the ADAC Tip award.
With 5 new ADAC Superplätze, Italy continues to be the first in the European ranking, while France, which obtains 8 new ones, climbs from third to second position. Croatia records the most important increase with 8 new ADAC Superplätze (+62%), and climbs three positions in the standings, reaching third place.
Germany gets two new ADAC Superplätze (4th position and 20 campsites) on a par with the Netherlands, which however loses three campsites. In sixth place Spain (16 campsites and unchanged result), while Austria (+3) and Denmark (+1) are positioned, respectively, in seventh and eighth place. Greece is in the first part of the ranking for the first time, thanks to the award-winning Camping Ionion Beach, on a par with Luxembourg, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and Hungary.
