The 2025 season is recording a further boost for open-air tourism in Sweden, with a significant increase in camping overnight stays extending beyond the summer months. According to the latest data published by SCR Svensk Camping, Swedish campsites recorded around 1.2 million overnight stays in September and October, marking growth of 10.8 per cent compared with the same period the previous year.
This figure represents a continuation of the positive trend observed throughout the 2025 season: from January to October, Swedish campsites reached a total of 17.2 million overnight stays, with growth of 5.4 per cent year on year. International visitors also made a substantial contribution to this expansion, with growth exceeding that of the domestic market.
The autumn season’s performance confirms the lengthening of the average stay period and reflects the attractiveness of an increasingly diversified open-air offer, capable of appealing both to domestic tourism and to European markets. Among international source markets, German visitors stood out for their high volumes of overnight stays during the season, with September marking a historic record for the presence of guests from Germany.
From a geographical perspective, some Swedish regions such as Kalmar, Gotland and Uppsala recorded particularly significant increases in occupancy figures, reflecting growing interest in destinations beyond the traditional summer circuits.
