The negotiation for the renewal of the Tourism National Collective Labor Agreement in Italy, expired in 2018, which involves over 200,000 workers, continues. At the negotiating table are, on one side, the associations representing hotel and open-air tourist-receptive companies, Federalberghi and FAITA-FederCamping, and, on the other side, the sector’s worker unions, Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl, and Uiltucs UIL.

In the latest meeting held in mid-November, the unions took an initiative that marked a first in the negotiations: they formally requested a salary increase. While acknowledging this request, the delegations of Federalberghi and FAITA indicated the need to submit it for examination by their respective decision-making bodies before providing a response.

This decision was made “also considering the incomprehensible differences compared to the requests that the same unions have presented for the renewal of other collective agreements related to similar sectors,as read in a FAITA statement. Federalberghi and FAITA also emphasized that the renewal agreement for collective agreement in Tourism involves not only the salary component but also other highly complex aspects, for which discussions have not yet commenced.

In any case, the two associations expressed their willingness, subject to agreement with other entrepreneurial organizations in the tourism sector, to disburse an initial installment from December. This would serve as an advance on future contractual increases, aiming to prevent the inevitably lengthy duration of the ongoing negotiations from forcing workers to endure further delays.
