A wave of solidarity has begun following the devastating wildfire that, on 2 July, struck the French Mediterranean coast between Sainte-Marie-la-Mer and Canet-en-Roussillon, causing extensive damage to Le Brasilia campsite, a long-standing member of the LeadingCampings of Europe network.
In an open letter addressed to camping enthusiasts, Simone Pokrandt and the entire LeadingCampings team announced the launch of a fundraising campaign in support of the campsite and the people affected by the tragedy. While guests and staff were evacuated to safety in time, “Large parts of this popular holiday resort were destroyed,” the statement reads.
Behind the material damage, however, there are above all people. “staff, colleagues, guests and families whose lives have been directly affected by this disaster,” LeadingCampings emphasises. For this reason, all donations collected through the initiative, organised in close cooperation with Le Brasilia, will be used to provide immediate and practical support to employees and their families who have been directly affected by the fire.
“Every contribution helps. Every gesture of support is a sign of solidarity” is the appeal launched by the network, which is inviting the entire camping community to take part, either by making a donation or simply by sharing the fundraising campaign. The message is clear: a community is measured above all in the most difficult moments. Not only when holidays and passions are shared, but also when one of its members needs everyone’s support.
“Together we are strong,” concludes Simone Pokrandt, thanking in advance all those who choose to contribute to the initiative. Further information about the fundraising campaign is available on the LeadingCampings website.
