Club del Sole, a leading company in Italy’s outdoor holiday sector, continues to support the Politecnico di Milano by backing the 2024 Research of the Travel Innovation Observatory. This study provides an in-depth overview of tourism market dynamics, highlighting the growing importance of the open-air sector within the broader tourism industry.

According to the data presented at the Travel Innovation Day 2025, the open-air hospitality market reached 3 billion in 2024, marking a 3% growth compared to 2023. This segment now accounts for 7-8% of the total Italian hospitality market, driven by the increasing demand for sustainable and nature-focused experiences. Overall, the hospitality sector recorded a total value of 37.8 billion, with a 5% increase from the previous year.

Supporting the Travel Innovation Observatorys research is a privilege that allows us to monitor the evolution of our sector and engage with top companies at a national and international level,” commented Angelo E. Cartelli, General Manager of Club del Sole. “The 2024 data confirms that open-air tourism is experiencing authentic and sustainable growth, motivating us to continue investing in innovative projects that enhance our Full Life Holidays hospitality model at Club del Sole“.

The open-air sector remains one of the most dynamic in the tourism industry. The combination of comfort, digital services, and environmental responsibility offered by outdoor vacations has proven to be a winning formula for attracting new types of travelers. Behind this growing demand is a strong commitment to innovation from industry operators like Club del Sole, who believe in making tourism increasingly competitive and aligned with the needs of modern travelers.

Digitalization and sustainability: essential drivers for sector growth

The Politecnico di Milano’s research also highlights the increasingly strategic role of digitalization in the tourism sector’s expansion. According to the Observatory, eCommerce now accounts for 56% of hospitality transactions, an important figure that encourages businesses to invest in digital solutions to enhance customer experience and simplify trip planning.

Club del Sole is moving in this direction by implementing advanced technological solutions that allow customers to personalize their trips, select additional services, and access exclusive promotions through its digital platforms.

The study also emphasizes the significance of environmental sustainability, a core value for Club del Sole, reflected in concrete initiatives. Among the most notable are the RE-TREE-T and Treeship projects, both located at the Spina Family Camping Village in Lido di Spina, in the heart of the Po Delta Park.

RE-TREE-T is an innovative project that combines eco-compatibility and design. It features modular, adaptable living solutions seamlessly integrated into the pine forest through digital terrain mapping. Built with natural and recycled materials, these accommodations incorporate bioclimatic solutions to minimize environmental impact. Equally unique is the Treeship project, which introduces a revolutionary hospitality concept where trees take center stage. By blending nature and technology, Treeship offers an immersive hospitality experience, allowing guests to stay in direct contact with their natural surroundings.

Both projects not only contribute to reducing environmental impact but also enhance Club del Sole’s offerings. They reflect the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility and guest well-being, ensuring authentic and sustainable vacation experiences.
