From October12 to 14, the 71st edition of SIA Hospitality Design will be staged at the Rimini fair of Italian Exhibition Group, the most complete and updated point of view on innovation, technology, and design for the hotel industry. Together with the 40th SUN Beach&Outdoor Style, SIA 2022 completes the rich offer of the TTG Travel Experience marketplace.
The architectural forms of hospitality and the outdoors interact with nature in new, symbiotic, and reversible ways to accommodate a dimension of tourism that has become demanding and increasingly interconnected with the surrounding space and with the digital sphere. A dimension in which the boundaries between work and travel blur, between hyperconnection and relaxation in a new human and natural balance.
This new way of living in places is at the center of the Glamping Exhibition ‘The Ne[s]t’, the project by SIA Hospitality Design that tells the evolution of the open-air holiday. A segment of Italian tourism that is increasingly appreciated and which from this year is part of the SIA exhibition proposal, in the wake of the recent agreement signed between FAITA FederCamping and Italian Exhibition Group. The event dedicated to the world of hôtellerie collects new sensibilities related to travel and prepares to inspire tour operators and designers.
Take refuge in nature
Today, those who travel want to take refuge in a secluded, quiet place, away from the chaos. This trend, already detected by the SWG survey carried out for the European railway booking platform Trainline – according to which this year travelers have a greater desire for nature (+31%) and tranquility (+29%) – is also reflected in the Camping Campeggi.com report: in the first quarter of 2022 the site dedicated to outdoor tourism recorded an increase in searches equal to 150% more than in 2021 and 8% more than in 2019.
Smart zero impact architectures
To accommodate the new needs and behaviors of travelers, places intended for hospitality must enter into symbiosis with nature through “intelligent architecture”: modular spaces that can be modified over time, easy to install and uninstall, with zero footprint on the territory. This is the proposal of the ‘The Ne[s]t’ project by architect Paolo Scoglio, who exhibits structures perfectly integrated into the natural environment and connected to digital ecosystems powered by renewable sources at the Rimini Fair.
Nature meets design
The project will be presented in the event “Micro-Hospitality in Nature. Intelligent and reversible architectures for nomadic travelers” within the rich schedule of seminars and conferences that will alternate in the Design Arena and in the Camping Arena during the three days of the fair. The desire for the outdoors leads to a redesign of gardens and outdoor spaces, as the landscape architect Davide Giorgi will explain in the talk “Supernatura for hospitality. Style conquers green spaces“, but it will also be a hot topic for interior design, on which architect Gianpietro Sacchi will speak in the conference “Surfing Disruption: riding the wave of new tourism by innovating spaces and services for travelers of the present future“.
