Camping has always been a popular type of vacation, but lately it has really hit it off, whether due to post-pandemic vacations or man’s increasing desire to (re)turn to nature. Most of camping enthusiasts choose camping for the perfect way to spend their vacation and (re)connect with nature. However, enjoying a simpler life, even for a bit, doesn’t mean camping was left behind in terms of modernity and comfort.
As various global trends and innovations are taking industries by storm, camping is no exception. “Modern” guests are demanding more for their money when camping, and this applies across the whole customer journey. From wanting to see the camp in full detail before booking, to be able to do a fast and quick check-in and simply navigate to the place they have booked.
CampMap and Pra’ delle Torri: a successful collaboration
Satisfying these guest demands in a traditional way, with staff or paper-based information, results in an increase in the workload of employees or requires more staff and training which usually generates higher business costs and, in turn, decreases the quality of service. CampMap offers a green solution for a camping experience with less stress. This web platform helps campsites reduce costs and improve guest experience by creating accurate, complete, and easy-to-use digital maps.
The young company started collaborating in 2021 with several campsites in Croatia and today over 100 campsites from Slovenia, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy have recognized the value of providing interactive maps to their guests. “I would like to highlight Centro Vacanze Pra’ delle Torri as one of the key partners in the Italian market,” said Simon Neal CEO and founder of CampMap. “With the desire to offer their guests a unique experience of exploring the offer of the resort, their team recognized the potential of CampMap. Our cooperation is continuously advancing, and we are always happy to discuss new ways and suggestions for product improvement.”
When asked what the main reason was for creating the interactive map, Luca Spigariol, CEO of Pra’ delle Torri commented: “For some time now we were not satisfied with our traditional map, we wanted to offer more to our guests. Nowadays we are all used to navigating via digital maps, searching for information, and finding additional details. In addition, we are a very large vacation resort, and it is not always easy to find your way around, especially for those visiting us for the first time. When we learned about CampMap, we discovered that our ideas were already a reality.”

Investing in digitization
The interactive map is published on all their channels including the resort website. Guests can easily access it once they arrive by scanning a QR code; this is displayed in all offices that have contact with guests, starting with the main reception desk. Both, Luca and Simon, agree that new technologies and digitization are undoubtedly the biggest challenges that open-air tourism is facing. As every challenge, it also represents an opportunity to build the cooperation between these two companies in the coming years and to develop new unique experiences for guests
“The 2022 season marked a clear recovery compared to the 2020/21 two-year period, we can only be satisfied with the results achieved, hoping to continue on this trend in the coming years,” concludes Spigariol, indicating new investment cycles: “At Pra’ delle Torri we always invest for the future, we have done so in the crisis years, and we will continue to do so. We only reveal that the sanitary facilities No. 3 for customers in the camping area, completely renovated in 2022 and much appreciated by our guests, will soon have company.”
CampMap is keeping up with the investments and infrastructural development of its partner camps, providing them with continuous support by updating the interactive maps and the information available to guests. Drawing inspiration from the invaluable feedback from partner campsites, CampMap will continue to evolve and better its services in hopes to facilitate camp`s efforts and make the guest`s stay more enjoyable.
