PiNCAMP – the camping portal of the European mobility clubs ADAC, ANWB and TCS – has published the PiNCAMP Most Wanted 2026 ranking, featuring the 100 European campsites most appreciated by German campers.
The ranking is based on page views recorded on PiNCAMP.de between 1 January and 31 July 2026. To be included in the ranking, campsites had to have received at least four user reviews and an average rating of at least 7 out of 10. The data collected made it possible to draw up both the European Top 100 and the individual country rankings.
Germany, Italy and Croatia dominate the ranking
According to the PiNCAMP ranking, demand from German campers is distributed across campsites located in nine European countries, but Germany, Italy and Croatia account for the largest share of the Top 100, with 87 campsites in total. At geographical level, some particularly popular destinations also stand out: the German Baltic Sea coast, the Italian Adriatic coast and Istria in Croatia are in fact the areas with the largest number of campsites represented in the ranking.
Taking first place in the ranking is Camping- und Ferienpark Wulfener Hals, on the island of Fehmarn, which repeats last year’s result, once again confirming its position as the most popular campsite among German campers. Second place goes to Rosenfelder Strand Ostsee Camping, in Schleswig-Holstein, which recorded the most significant rise: absent from last year’s Top 100, it is the highest-placed new entry in the 2026 edition. In third place is Vela Blu Camping Village, in Italy, which climbs nine places compared with the previous ranking.
Large resorts and small campsites in the Top 100
The PiNCAMP ranking also highlights the variety of campsites preferred by German campers. The Top 100 includes not only large resorts, but also significantly smaller campsites. Among the most popular sites are, for example, Valamar Camping Lanterna, in Croatia, with more than 3,200 pitches and rental accommodation, and the two large Italian sites Marina di Venezia Camping Village and Union Lido Mare, which offer around 3,000 and 2,700 pitches and rental accommodation respectively.
At the same time, the Top 100 also includes much smaller sites, such as Campingplatz Alpenblick, in Bavaria, with 74 pitches and rental accommodation, and Landschapscamping Kijkuit, in Zeeland, the Netherlands, with 77. Size, therefore, is not the only factor determining a campsite’s success. The ADAC classification also confirms this variety, with campsites ranging from three to five stars.
“Camping vacations today are more diverse than ever before. The search queries of German campers show a wide range of location, facilities, quality, price, and experiences. This diversity in camping is inspiring more and more people,” says Uwe Frers, Managing Director of PiNCAMP.
